Disneyland Memories...

Before I left California I got to go to Disneyland one last time...and it was AWESOME!

Here are a few of the things I'm going to miss about working at the "Happiest Place on Earth" -

1. Working Fantasmic guest control shifts - It's basically a four hour shift that consisted of me getting paid to watch Fantasmic... How cool is that! My favorite part is at the end when Sorcerer Mickey comes popping out of the top of the mountain. No matter how many times I see it, it still gives me chills.

2. Walking around Disneyland after closing when the park is empty - It's just so peaceful. And it's cool to think that Walt Disney liked to do that too! Whenever I was in the park after closing, I made sure to take the long way back to the employee shuttle so I could experience the peace of Disneyland after hours.

3. Company D - It's an employee's only store that sells all kinds of Disney merchandise at a super discounted price. I actually went the morning of my last day of work. You have to show your Disneyland employee ID to be able to shop there. On my last day I got a Princess Leia potato head for only $3! Who could ask for anything more!?

4. Getting to do cool behind the scenes stuff - like...going on a walk through of Pirates of the Caribbean. Seriously one of the coolest things I got to do at the park. I was closing at Indy one night when the closing lead mentioned that a group of people were headed over to Pirates to go on a walk through. He asked if I wanted to go, and I jumped at the opportunity. It was an adventure We got to climb into most of the scenes and hear lots of behind the scenes stuff about one of the most classic Disney attractions. I got to take pictures on my cell phone to save the memories(which I promised not to post online!)

5. Getting to help "Make the Magic" - I know it sounds sappy, but I think when people visit Disneyland they expect to expereince some magic. It was cool getting to be a part of that. I LOVED getting to make people's day by doing something as simple as giving them a fastpass, or telling them the best spot to see Fantasmic from.

Welcome to Sin City!

I am officially a resident of the state of Nevada...I'm here, and most importantly I'm finally unpacked! If I'm being honest I'll admit that I feel really weird about this whole situation. I was really forced to make this move by my financial circumstances. It's the first time that I've ever made a major move that I wasn't really excited about. It's cool that my family is here, but right now I'm feeling a little out of place. Part of that is because I'm by myself. I've been so used to having my best friend with me...so being alone is a little weird. Speaking of Jenny, I got to talk to her on the phone a couple of days ago, and that was just strange. Since when do I talk to her on the phone?! Usually I'd just wait and talk to her when I got home. But we're not roomies anymore, and she lives in another state. I guess I'm still getting use to that...I guess I just need to give myself time to get use to all of the changes that are happening around me.

This is a weird post. As I look back at what I've written so far, it's kind of scattered and depressing...but it's honest, and it's where I'm at right now...

What a Day!

Today has been a tough day...my best friend left this morning for Oklahoma, and I cried as she pulled out of the driveway. It's so weird because I don't know if its really hit me yet. I keep expecting her to walk out of her bedroom.

I really feel like I'm moving into a new "season" of life. Everything is changing. And that can be tough no matter what the changes are. It's partly tough because I can't really see what's up ahead for me. Through all of this, I'm taking comfort in the fact that God is the one CONSTANT thing in my life. No matter how my circumstances change, he doesn't. Today I've just been reminding myself that I have a purpose in this world that was designed by God. And that he's going to walk with me through all of life's changes. In Hebrews 13:5 God assures us:

"I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you," (MSG)

It's awesome to be reminded of that!

The Blue Bayou

I FINALLY made my first visit to the Blue Bayou restaurant at Disneyland. It's the restaurant you see when you're riding through The Pirates of the Caribbean. It was awesome! It totally lived up to the hype for me. I split a Monte Cristo sandwich with one of my friends, and we ordered the cookie pirate ship for dessert. Overall it was a fun day with some ladies who I really enjoy! Here are some photo's...

Big News!

In the next couple of weeks I have some MAJOR changes happening in my life. Number one is that my best friend is moving back home to be with her family. Jenny and I have been friends for over 13 years. She's been my roommate for about 10 of those years. I'm going to miss her bunches! We both avoid talking about it, because it just makes us cry. I know we'll still be friends, but it will just be different. She's been a part of my everyday life for a lot of years now. I'll miss that...

The other big news is that I'm moving! I've been trying to find a place here in California that I can afford by myself, and it just never happened. I had a few possibilities but they all fell through at the last minute. Plus I've been looking for a second job for a while now, and nothings been working out. So for financial reasons I'll be moving to Las Vegas. My two sisters and their families plus my mom live there. I'm sad to leave California. I love my church, and my job, and I have other friends here...but I know it's time to go.

So, like I said...MAJOR changes! On a completely non-related note this past week has been the week for celebrity sightings at work! On Tuesday I saw Stephanie Meyers as she made her way through the Indiana Jones fast pass line with an escort. For those of you who don't know she's the author of the Twilight series. I also got pretty close and personal with Lindsey Lohan and crew. As I was walking out of a backstage area, they were being escorted in. Ahhhh....my brush with fame!

Slumdog Millionaire

I finally went to see Slumdog Millionaire, and I really enjoyed it. I have a friend who went saw it a couple of weeks ago and she loved it. She's talked so much about it that I've been wanting to see it ever since. I really didn't know what to expect. It's funny, in all the press I've seen about the movie they really don't talk much about the plot. After seeing it I get why. It's a movie that you just need to go see...
